Agnes Lucille Butler, 90, of Chaptico, MD passed away on August 10, 2013 in Leonardtown, MD. Agnes was the daughter of the late Joseph Ignatius Butler, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Butler.

Agnes is survived by her children; James Douglas Butler of District Heights, MD, Rita Thomas of Upper Marlboro, MD, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her children; Mary Elizabeth Dickens, and Raymond Ignatius Butler both of Chaptico, MD and Joseph Lawrence Butler of Oakville, MD, siblings; Merlin Butler of Chaptico, MD, Joseph Ignatius Butler of Mechanicsville, MD, and Peral Dyson of Bushwood, MD.

Agnes worked was a domestic worker for the Patuxent Naval Base and St. Mary's Academy, and she was a lifelong resident of St. Mary's County, MD.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM with prayers recited at 6:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, Chaptico, MD with Father Jerry Gamrot officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Helen, MD. Pallbearers will be; James Bowman, Ralph Thomas, Michael Bowman, Austin Baker, Dewitt Swann, and Xavier Reed. Honorary Pallbearers; Wendell Butler, Duane Benn, Larry Moten, Jr., Joseph Butler, Arnell Bush, and Carl Boman.
