Sarah Lee Scriber, 69 of Lexington Park, MD, entered into eternal rest on July 23, 2013. Sarah was born on September 12, 1943 in Chaptico, Maryland, to the late Charles and Annie Hill. She received her education in the St. Mary's County Public School System.
Sarah married the love of her life and best friend, William "Diddy" Scriber and from this union they had four children. Sarah always had strong work ethics and was an honest, dependable and trustworthy employee. Her jobs were always a priority to her no matter what type of work she was doing. Sarah started working in tobacco fields at the very young age of twelve years old. In August, 1978, Sarah became employed at St. Mary's Nursing Home, Leonardtown, Maryland. After twenty-seven years, she retired from the Nursing Home in August, 2005 to begin the next phase of her life. Sarah was a nice, caring person and had a quiet demeanor about her. She was a devoted wife and a nurturing mother. Sarah was very neat and organized at home as well as in her appearance. If you ever had the pleasure of visiting her home, you know that her home was always immaculate. Sarah was very family-oriented. She loved spending quality time with her children and grandchildren, as well as socializing with other family members and friends. Sarah and daughter, Jenny, were "glued at the hip"; if you saw one, you saw the other. For pleasure and relaxation, Sarah enjoyed dancing and loved playing Bingo; her number one hobby. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Annie Hill; her husband, William Scriber; brother, Karim El-Min; brother-in-law, James "Dingum" Armstrong, mother-in-law, Catherine Armstrong; father-in-law, James Tyer; step father-in-law, James Armstrong and sister-in-law, Mary E. Wilder. Left to cherish Sarah's precious memories are her children, William Scriber (Debbie), Eleanor Scriber, Francis Scriber and Mary Scriber; six grandchildren, Lamont Scriber, Darwin Scriber, Latoya Jefferson (Andrew), Kenyada Scriber, Eboni Worley (Jordan), Ashley Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Tamera Scriber, Deo-mantae Sarpong, Ka-viantae Sarpong, Jamarion Jefferson and Justyce Worley; Sheila Somerville and Renee Taylor (who she helped raise); siblings, Cecelia Hill, Ann Hill, Elsie Hill, Ruth Hill, Agnes Young (Wallace) and Joseph Hill (Theresa); sister-in-law, Catherine Herbert (Joseph) and Awatef El-Min; Godson, John Hill and Kevin Wilson and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends. Sarah is now safe in God's hands and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and love her.
