Shirley Marlene Hemming, 76, of Bryantown, MD, passed away at Georgretown Hospital in Washington, DC on July 2, 2013. She was born on July 27, 1936 to the late Alice and Wilmer Richardson.
She attended Gwynn Park High School, and upon graduation she embarked on a career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC, where she worked for 26 years. Following her retirement from civil service, she obtained her realtors license and became as a successful real estate agent in Southern Maryland. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Brandywine, MD. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband Bernard Peter Hemming, and her sister Mary Richardson and brother Morris Richardson. She is survived by her son, Bernard Wilmer Hemming. The family will receive friends for Shirley's Life Celebration on Sunday, July 7, 2013 from 5:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with prayers at 7:00p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bryantown, MD with Father Rory Conley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Hemming, Jeremy Hemming, Jerry Hemming, Joseph Hemming, Michael Hemming, and William Hemming. Honorary Pallbearer will be Keith Hemming. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Mary's School, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617.
