Shirley M. DeShazo transitioned peacefully in her sleep on Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Charles County Hospice House in Waldorf, Maryland with her two sons; Larry and Gregory "Rick" and her brother, William, by her side.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she attended Dunbar High School, Pomonkey High School, Morgan State College (University) and the University of the District of Columbia.

Although Shirley was born in Baltimore, Maryland and died in Charles County, Maryland she lived in Montana and Malibu, California for many years. She also visited China and Hong Kong.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; Alexander and Mary DeShazo(Morton), her husband, James Waring and her brother, Cecil DeShazo.

Shirley is survived by her two devoted sons; Larry Waring (Ann) and Gregory "Rick" Waring, both of Bryans Road, Maryland and Michael Edwards of San Diego, California. Also surviving are: five brothers, William DeShazo (Patricia) of Florida, James Morton (Deborah) of Bryans Road, Maryland, Anthony Highe (Karen) of Richmond, Virginia, Brunice DeShazo (Mimi) and Byrd DeShazo of Baltimore, Maryland; two sisters, Linda Wilson of Prince Georges County, Maryland and Martha DeShazo of Baltimore, Maryland, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation, 9am until time of Memorial Service 10am, Saturday, June 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland.
