Jennifer Diane "Jenn" Portee of White Plains, Maryland, died on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the Charles County Hospice House in Waldorf. She was 47 years old. Born on January 12, 1966 in Canton, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Edward Manning of Champaign, IL and the late Rogia Manning.
Mrs. Portee grew up in Champaign, Illinois and graduated at Centennial High School there. She attended Christopher College in Newport News, Virginia and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Most recently, she worked with the Adventist Home Care Waldorf office. She attended the Ebenezer A. M. E. Church in Fort Washington and had participated in the dance ministry. She enjoyed traveling, cruising, reading, raising the family Yorkie, Bentley Wolfgang Haberdasher but most loved spending time with family. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband Wade L. Portee III; her children Whitney Nicole, Shaquille Raheem and Danielle Malikah, all of White Plains; her sister Sandra Gail Manning of White Plains; her brother Vincent Edward Manning of Marietta, Georgia; her half-brother Eric E. Manning of Champaign, IL; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation on Thursday, June 6, 2013 from 10:30AM until time of service beginning at 12:30PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment to follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD at 3PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Charles County, 2505 Davis RD., Waldorf, MD 20603.
