Salvatore "Sam" Anthony Disclafani, 86, of Mechanicsville, MD, died on April 4, 2013 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. He was born on May 7, 1926 in Charleroi, PA, son of the late Anthony and Virginia (Totora) Disclafani.

Sam served in the U.S. Army as Master Sergeant during World War II from 1944-1946. He was in the Army reserves from 1946-1964. Later, Sam became employed with The Washington Post as a circulation newspaper distributor and retired in 1982.

He was the Charter President of the Council of Organizations, Clinton, MD; an Honorary Member of the Terimitane Families Association of Quebec, Laval, Quebec Province, Canada; and a Life Member of the Order of the Elks, Camp Springs, MD; the Order of the Moose, Waldorf, MD; the Legion of the Moose, Capitol Legion 155; and the American Legion Post 221, Avenue, MD.

Sam was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister. During his retirement years he was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and filled his life with traveling and working outdoors on his farm.

In addition to his parents, Sam was predeceased by his brother, Philip James Disclafani, his sister, Josephine Ann Disclafani, and sister-in-law, Helen Disclafani.

Sam is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rose Margaret (Imbrogno) Disclafani, whom he affectionately called "Laurie."

He is also survived by his daughter, Sandra Jo "Sandy" Dippold and her husband Vance F. Dippold, Jr. and daughter, Virginia "Ginny" Roach and her husband, Richard Roach; 6 grandchildren: Vance Dippold III and his wife, Kim; Sam Dippold and his wife, Mandi; Laurie Dippold; Morgan Roach and his wife, Beth; Vanesa Roach; and Roman Roach; and 2 great grandchildren; nephew Philip James Disclafani and wife, Cathee; and three great nephews, P.J., Tony, and Tim Disclafani.

Family and friends will be received for Sam's Life Celebration on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with prayers beginning at 7:00 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. There will be a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 37575 Chaptico Road, Chaptico, MD 20621. Father Timothy K. Baer will officiate. Interment will follow to Queen of Peace Cemetery, 38888 Dr. Johnson Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659.
