Lawrence "Larry" Theodore Wolfe, 59, of Chaptico, MD died on March 21, 2013 on the farm in Chaptico. Born May 25, 1953 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Cora Lorena Ward Wolfe and the late Harold William Wolfe.
He is survived by his sister Nancy D. Wolfe of Chaptico, MD. He graduated from Gwynn Park High School in 1971, and the University of Maryland with a degree in Agricultural Economics in 1975. He was self-employed as a farmer in Chaptico. He was a life-long member of River View Grange, the Maryland State Grange and the National Grange, and held numerous offices during his years of membership. He was an active member of the Southern Maryland Antique Power Association and a regular participant in their tractor pulls and the Tractor Parade in Leonardtown. He frequently was the announcer for tractor pulls providing historical commentary on the various tractors competing. He was an exhibitor at the Chesapeake Antique Boat and Marine Engine Show held at the Calvert Marine Museum annually. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating, farm related collections and answering questions on antique tractor and marine engine websites. He will be missed for his knowledge of repairing engines. The family will receive friends for Lawrence's Life Celebration on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 11 am at Brinsfield Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be, Chris Paradis, Tommy Short, Todd Pettit, Mark Pettit, Kevin Wetherald, and John Fluhart. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Pettit, Luther Wolfe, Danny Fluhart, Jack Short, Mike Sirk, and Malcom Goode. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Grange Foundation, 1616 H Street NW, Washington, DC 20006, for the Kelly Farm preservation.
