John Stephen Evancho, 46 of Waldorf, MD, formerly of Oak Forest, Illinois, died on November 24, 2007 at Civista Medical Center, La Plata, MD.
Born on June 18, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Lawrence B. Evancho of Oak Forest, Illinois. Mr. Evancho has resided in this area since 2003. He received his Masters Degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. He was employed with the Department of the Navy at Pax River as an Enterprise Airspeed Training Project Leader. Prior he served in the U.S. Marine Corp. During his time, he served in Operation Enduring Freedom in Kuwait. He started out as a Marine Recruiter and worked in the Pentagon before he retired as Master Gunnery Sgt. John was a big Chicago sports fan. He also enjoyed baseball, football, hockey, and professional & college basketball, and coached for his children's baseball teams. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Cathy Lea Bradshaw Evancho, whom he married on October 12, 1985. Also survived by children, Autumn L. Evancho and John S. Evancho, Jr., both of Waldorf, MD, mother Norah Nolan Evancho of Oak Forest, Illinois, sisters and husbands, Noreen & Lou Kooiman, of Frankford, Illinois, and Mary Ann & John Majgherek, of Manteno, Illinois, brothers and wives, Larry & Kathy Evancho, of Mokena, Illinois, Oliver & Amy Evancho, of Little Elm, Texas, and Kevin & Tina Evancho, of Stager, Illinois. Mr. Evancho is also survived by many other relatives and friends. Family invites friends in the Life Celebration of John S. Evancho on Saturday, December 1, 2007 from 10a-12Noon at Brinsfield-Echols Life Celebration Home, 30195 Three Notch Rd, Charlotte Hall, MD. Funeral Service will be held at 12Noon with Reverend John Mattingly celebrating. Interment will be held on January 2, 2008, 11am, at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
