Edith Meredith Bagot. 94, of Owings, MD passed away January 18, 2013 at her residence. She was born August 2, 1918 at home in Washington, D.C., the eldest of 5 children.

Edith and her parents were soon joined by, Walker Clopton, Andrew Tyler, June Price, and Robert Harris. Edith moved to Hyattsville as a small child and lived there for the majority of her life until she moved to Lower Marlboro to live with her daughter in 2003.

Edith married Frank Bagot on January 13, 1938 and they had four daughters, Janice, Peggy, Frankie and Nancy.

Edith was active as a Brownie leader and also as Room Mother for all her children. She began working at the Hyattsville Library in Hyattsville, MD and enjoyed her library work, especially researching Maryland history. She managed the Maryland room at the library after it had moved to University Park. Edith was a history buff and was a member of the Prince George's County Historical Society, the Louisa County, Virginia Historical Society, the Silver Springs Doll Club, and the National Doll Club. She was a member of the first United Methodist Church and retained her membership there, and also attended the lower Marlboro United Methodist Church after she moved to Lower Marlboro.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Frank and brothers; Walker and Andrew Meredith, and a sister, June Walters.

She is survived by her daughters Janice Meredith Heaton of Owings, Margaret B. Dinger and husband James of Willington, CT, Frances Bagot of Huntingtown and Nancy C. McNew of New Lebanon, OH. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a brother Robert Meredith and wife Ginger of Silver Spring.
