Ellis Harry Bowie, 83, of Indian Head, MD died January 11, 2013 at Fort Washington Medical Center. Born December 1, 1929 in Marbury, MD, he was the son of Harry B. Bowie and Alice A. Rye Bowie, both of Nanjemoy, MD.

Ellis served in the U.S. Army from 1950 - 1952. He then went to work as a supply clerk for the U.S. Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, MD. He loved to play golf.

Ellis was predeceased by his parents; brother, Ronald Bowie; sisters, Kathleen Bowie, Selma Bowie Monroe and Myra Bowie Miller.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Choutka , brothers, Elwyn G. Bowie and Roland Bowie; grandchildren, Teresa Choutka (Fritz) and Dave Choutka (Dawn); great-grandchildren, Jackson, Avery, Mya and Courtland; also 6 nephews and 3 nieces.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00p.m. at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 211 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, MD. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11:00a.m. at Nanjemoy Baptist Church, 2975 Baptist Church Road, Nanjemoy, MD 20662. Pastor Jason Ferrell will officiate. Interment will follow at Nanjemoy Baptist Church Cemetery.
