Nancy Layne Allen 88 of White Plains, Md. died on January 8, 2013 in Waldorf, Md. She was born on August 4, 1924 in Ceres, Va. to the late Ashbey P. Umbarger and Ruby L. Umbarger.

She is also predeceased by her husband William "Bill" Allen, Sr., son William "Bill" Allen, Jr., brother Charles Umbarger, sister Ora Gray Stowers and her grandchild Claudia Rose Allen.

She is survived by her son Layne Allen, daughter Dawn Colonna, grandchildren Kristie, Jeff, Mandy, Tim, Steven, Katie and Anthony, gr. grandchildren Emily, Cameron, Olivia, Atreyu, Zaynee, Abbey, Celie, Summer, Brooke, and Blake.

Nancy worked as a book keeper at several car dealerships in the area and was a member of the New Life Church and also enjoyed gardening and reading.

The family will receive friends on Friday January 11th from 6 to 8pm with a service at 7:30pm at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata, Md. Interment will be on Friday January 25th at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham, Md.
