Fred Nathen Brown, 69, of Charlotte Hall, MD died December 16, 2012 at Calvert Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 14, 1943 in Conowingo, MD, the son of the late Clayton Mitchell and Blanche Aileen (Curry) Brown.

He was an Auto Mechanic in the United States Army with both Active and Reserve duty from November 1, 1961 through April 9, 1968. He was a local businessman/owner of Brown's Furniture in Waldorf and Mechanicsville for many years.

He was an avid Washington Redskins Fan. Fred enjoyed playing horseshoes, shuffleboard, and entertaining family and friends at his home by throwing huge crab feast gatherings, pool parties, and cookouts. After retirement his favorite pass time was spending time with his grandsons. He loved to watch them swim in his pool and ride their bikes, motor cycles and go-karts. He looked forward to sleep-overs with the boys, which included a night of SpongeBob, popcorn and ice cream. His latest and newest adventure was going camping with his grandsons over this past summer. He was dedicated to his family and generous to all. He leaves behind many, many friends and family.

In addition to his parents, Fred is predeceased by his daughter, Elaine; his son, Thomas; his grandson, James "Dustin" Owens; sisters, Lois Grisby and Sally Holcomb; and brothers, Clayton Jr., Wiley, and John Brown.

Fred was the loving husband of Margaret I. Brown (49 years) and father of Christine Brown Owens (Maurice). Aside from his wife and daughter, Fred is survived by his four grandsons, Maurice, Jr., Anthony, Blake, and Bryce Owens; nieces, Karen Boecher (Richard) and their children Mackenzie, Garrett and Gavin; niece, Sharon Thompson; sisters, Helen Garofalo, Janet Murphy, and Mary Gurden; and one brother, Charles Brown; and many other nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received for Fred's Life Celebration on Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with prayers beginning at 7:30 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. There will be a Mass on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 28297 Old Village Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659. Rev. David G. Wells will officiate. Interment will follow to Charles Memorial Gardens, 26325 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650.

Pallbearers include Maurice Owens Jr., William Honeycutt, Michelle Cardello, Edward Flaherty, Robert Oppermann Sr. and James Allen.
