Jesse Littleton Young, Jr., 93, of Lusby, MD, passed away at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, MD on October 25, 2012. He was born April 2, 1919 in Accomack County, Virginia to the late Jesse L. and Bernice (Young) Young.
He served during World War II and was in the U.S. Army for 7 years. He was captured by the Germans and spent 2 years in as a prisoner of war. Later, Jesse became a street car driver. He then became a bus driver for Metro in Washington, DC and retired in 1978. Jesse enjoyed gardening and salt water fishing. He was also a Lifetime Member of the VFW post 9619 in Morningside, Maryland. Jesse is survived by his loving wife, Nona Joyce Young; his daughter, Jessie Lou Chapman and her husband, William; his brother, Thomas Young; his sister, Sarah Wilkerson; and his 8 grandchildren, Cathy Bowen, Duane Rynarzweski, Billy Chapman, Denise Johnson, David Chapman, Debbie Daughtry, Cindy Johnson and Jessie Dean Rouse. As well as his great grandchildren, Willie, Jessica & Dana Chapman, Matthew, Jason & Lisa Hohman, Charlene Chapman, and Robert Johnson. Now for his great-great grandchildren, Kaliana, Addison & Tristan Chapman, Aiden & Logan Hohman. There will be a graveside service on Monday, November 5, 2012, 10:00 AM, at Maryland Veteran Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
