Audrey Sophie Turbyne, 89, of Hollywood, MD formerly of West Caldwell, NJ died September 16, 2007 at her residence.

Born September 26, 1917 in Irvington, NJ, she was the daughter of the late George Ziegler and Sophie Kuehner.

Mrs. Turbyne was a retired registered nurse, having graduated in 1938 from the Newark Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. She met her future husband while he was a patient in her care, and they were married in Maplewood, NJ during September of 1940. After raising three children she re-entered the health care field as a private duty geriatric nurse remaining in the field until retirement.

She enjoyed reading, flower and vegetable gardening, canoeing, and especially the sewing arts. She always had a kind word for those she encountered during her life. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell, NJ and a frequent American Red Cross blood donor.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Turbyne and his wife, Gloria of Hollywood, MD and Jacques Turbyne and his wife, Karen of Hillsboro, NH, five grandchildren, Jacqueline Harris and her husband, Travis of Palmyra, VA, Heather Turbyne-Pollard and her husband, Rob of Richmond, VA, Jeffrey David Turbyne and his wife, Amber of Leonardtown, MD, Katya and Audrey Zabohonski of West Caldwell, NJ, and two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Josephine Harris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Turbyne, daughter, Ann Louise Zabohonski, siblings, George Ziegler, Carl Ziegler and Caroline Donovan, and companion, John Dougherty.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 21, 2007 from 5-8:00 p.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home Chapel, Leonardtown, MD, where a Funeral Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Reverend Sheldon Reese will conduct the service. Interment will be private.
