Datcher, Rudolph Clinton "Hick" (Age 85) of Nanjemoy, Maryland. Trustee Emeritus Rudolph Clinton (Hick) Datcher departed this earthly life on Monday, September 24, 2012. Rudolph was born on September 24, 1927 in Nanjemoy, Maryland to the late Sydney and Mary Datcher.
Trustee Datcher was baptized at an early age at the Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C. R. Alexander. He was an active and committed member until his illness. He was a devoted and faithful member of the Board of Trustee and served as the Chairperson for several decades. Trustee Datcher loved his church and if something needed to be fixed or repaired at the church, you could find him there day or night. He also loved singing in the Senior Choir, often asked to perform solos at special events. He received numerous recognitions for his outstanding work as a servant of the Most High God. Trustee Datcher worked at the Naval Ordinance Station until his retirement in 1983 serving for over 32 years of dedicated service. He attended Charles County Public Schools and Bowie State University. Trustee Datcher was a man who enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and farming. He would spend his pastime feeding the goats and cows on Bill Bowie's farm. Throughout the community, he was affectionately known as the "Nanjemoy Pro Bono Attorney, Doctor and Tax Man", often volunteering his time at the Nanjemoy Senior Center. Also, of course, he had a great sense of humor and a laugh that was unforgettable. Trustee Datcher was joined in holy matrimony to the late Florence Datcher on October 21, 1950. He was a devoted and loving husband for 56 years, faithfully caring for his wife until God called her home. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Sydney, Milton, William, Chester and sister, Florence. He leaves to cherish his sweet memory, sons - Larry (Brenda), Jerry "JJ", Michael (Gena - Fiancée); grandson, Nevoy Dyson; brothers -Phillip (Bertha), Charles (Adalaide, Winston (Arnetta), Reginald (Isadore), Gerald (Mildred), James (Mickey) Thomas (Rev. Ruby); sisters - Geraldine Swann; Marie Young (Rev. Rodney); brother-in-law Kelly Burgess and a host of relatives and friends. His viewing will be from 9am until time of Service, 11am on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 8705 Gilroy Road, Nanjemoy Maryland. Interment, Church Cemetery.
