Lilla "Mae" Castillo, 81, of Mechanicsville passed away on September 13, 2012 at the Fairland Center in Silver Spring. Born May 4, 1931 in Durham, NC., she was the daughter of Thurman Strickland and Campie Strickland-Carlisle.
Mae was employed as a Rehabilitation Technician for Pathways, Inc. Mae loved spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies were gardening, fishing, crabbing and Bingo. Mae left a lasting impression on all she came in contact with. Her positive attitude and great sense of humor complemented her sweet disposition and strength to live her life to the fullest. She was thankful for every day she was able to spend with her family. Mae was predeceased by her parents, husband Daminig "Nick" Castillo; daughter Susan Carter and grandson, Scotty Carter. She is survived by her daughters; Benette "Dee" R. Goldsmith and companion John Gibson, Elizabeth Erculiani (Gary) and Victoria D. Welch (George); brothers, Pietro D. Costello (Patricia) and Vincent D. Costello; grandchildren, Angela and Kelly Goldsmith, Vinnie and Catrina Costello, Beverly Costello, Virginia Lola, Gary Jr., Nicholas, Joseph, and Thomas Erculiani, Victor Jimenez, Valerie and Michael Harris, Gregory Stroud, Jr., and Michael and Matthew Welch; as well as 16 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends for Mae's Life Celebration on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD. Deacon Eugene Burroughs will officiate. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, 26325 Point Lookout Rd., Leonardtown, MD. Arrangements provided by Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home. |
