Winifred Edith Lamb (nee Cullis), 84, formerly of Sparks, MD died on October 10, 2007 at St. Mary's Nursing Center, Leonardtown, MD, following a lengthy illness.

Born November 28, 1922 in Sprucedale, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred Llewellyn Cullis and Catherine Edith (Liddy) Cullis.

Freddie, as she was affectionately known among friends, attended various schools in northern Ontario and Quebec as the family followed her father's ministry with the United Church of Canada. Freddie's fondest memories growing up, was when they lived in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario. She attended the University of Toronto, graduating from an Honors program in Psychology and began a job as a school pyschometrician in Montreal, Quebec. It was here that she met her future Bruce, an American born engineering student at nearby McGill University. In December of 1950, they were married and moved to Washington, D.C. so Bruce could attend law school.
Freddie worked as an administrative assistant in the Canadian Embassy, until their first child, a son, was born in 1952. She began a career as a full-time homemaker. They lived many places in the metro D.C. area, and had a daughter. In 1961, Bruce accepted a position with Bendix as patent counsel and the family moved to the Baltimore region. They bought a house out in the country, and had another daughter.

Freddie was a devoted home economist. She made many of the children's clothes and as an accomplished cook, canned many vegetables and made all of the families meals from scratch. She was a tireless volunteer in her children's schools and dedicated many hours to her church. Freddie had a keen mind. She was an avid reader and always current on world events. She and her late husband worked the daily crossword puzzles in the local paper and looked forward to the N.Y. Times Challenge every year. She enjoyed time with her grandkids, good conversation, a nice game of bridge and an afternoon nap. She was a good friend to all and will be sorely missed.

She was the beloved mother of Bruce Christopher Lamb, Martha Catherine Lamb, Gwyneth Ellen Hein, and their spouses, David Burnett and Kurt Hein. Mrs. Lamb was the loving grandmother of Lucy and Thomas Burnett and Cecily Hein.

A Memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Ashland Presbyterian Church in Cockeysville, MD.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be sent to the St. Mary's Nursing Center Foundation, Inc., 21585 Peabody Street, Leonardtown, MD 20650 or Ashland Presbyterian Church, 116 Ashland Road, Cockeysville, MD 21030.
