Henry Harmel, III, 58, of Callaway, MD, formerly of Avenue, MD died August 20, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, MD. Born August 30, 1953 in Takoma Park, MD, he was the son of Henry Harmel, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Carr Harmel.
Henry worked as a security guard for Wells Fargo. He enjoyed playing pool, shuffle board and bowling. Henry belonged to an Elvis Impersonator Group, Elvis being portrayed by Dean Harris and he, the role of Charlie Hodge, Elvis' lifelong friend. He was also an active member of Patuxent Moose in St. Mary's County. Henry was predeceased by his parents; grandparents, Roberta M. and Henry Harmel, Sr., Letha Carr-Rowley, Henry Plummer Carr and Robert P. Rowley. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Louise Evans Harmel; son, Robert Henry Evans, Jr. (Tracey); sister, Aletha Harmel and her fiancé, Ronald McCauley; grandchildren, Ashley Marie Evans, Melisa and Malik Vermillion; brothers-in-law, David Smith (Maggie) and Henry Smith; nieces and nephews, Terry Stotler, Liz Jones, Donna Smith, Wendy Newman and Christopher Smith. Henry is also survived by many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 2-4PM and 5-8PM in the chapel at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012, 11:00AM, here at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, 26325 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Pallbearers will be Richard Hayden, Donnie Estevez, Bubba Stotler, Ronnie McCauley, Dickie Gatton, Tommy Sparks, Ralph Stotler, Brian Newman, and Mike Joy.
