John Edwin Klopfer, Sr. of La Plata, MD died on Monday, August 6, 2012 at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, MD. He was 83 years old. Son of the late Charles Klopfer and the late Ann Murdock Klopfer.
Predeceased by his parents; a late son John Klopfer, Jr. Mr. Klopfer was a self-employed tile setter and a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Chapel Point, MD. He loved baseball "the old Washington Senators" and a Redskins fan. He was a score keeper for the local Charles and St. Mary's leagues and a Natty Bohs Team Fan where his son Johnny was a player/coach and his grandsons were players since the team's inception. Survived by his wife of 59 years Dolores E. Klopfer; one daughter Kathleen "Kathie" (Terrance) Ingrao of NY; one daughter-in-law Patricia Klopfer Miller of Marbury, MD; two grandchildren John Klopfer III and Joseph Klopfer; two great-grandchildren L. J. Klopfer and Jack Fitzgerald Klopfer. Visitation: Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 5-8PM with Wake Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel (5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646). Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 10AM at St. Ignatius Catholic Church - Chapel Point (8855 Chapel Point Road, Port Tobacco, MD 20677). Clergy: Fr. Paul McCarren.
