Dolores Van Tassel of Indian Head, Maryland passed away peacefully at home of Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the age of 92.

Dolores was born in Baltimore, Maryland and was raised in Washington, D.C. where she met her late husband, Raymond Van Tassel, who was serving in the U.S. Navy. As a career Navy wife she was active in the many organizations supporting the military wives and families.

Dolores is survived by three children: Roland Van Tassel, Karen Johnson and Pamela Van Tassel, Three grandchildren: Kimberly Johnson, Kyle Van Tassel and Lori Van Tassel-Castillo, two great-grandchildren: Grace Castillo and Gabrielle Castillo and sister: Virginia McCoy.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm. at The Huntt Funeral Home, 3035 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, Maryland. A private burial is planned at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that a contribution be made to the Hospice of Charles County in Dolores Van Tassel's name.
