A Time to Be Born:
Atla Patricia Brawner was born on August 26, 1932, in Accokeek, Maryland, to the late Raymond J. King, Sr., and Blanche I. King. She was the 4th child born in a family of 11 children. She was raised in Prince Georges County and attended Prince George's County Public Schools. She was a domestic worker and childcare provider.

A Time to Die:
On Sunday, June 24, 2007, Atla peacefully departed this life at Prince Georges Hospital in Cheverly, Maryland.

A Time To Love:
Atla was joined in holy matrimony to the late James Edward Brawner in August 1951. They raised three sons and four daughters: Harry L. Butler (Boot), Patricia A. Wheeler (Pat), Lawrence M. Brawner, the late Theresa Payne (Diane), Jacqueline Harley (Jackie), Larry J. Brawner (Petey) and Gale Aukard.

A Time To Plant:
Atla was a loving person, always positive, always offering words of encouragement, and thinking of others. She loved children and they were attracted to and loved her. She was the kind of person who was always there when you needed her, and she never judged you when you needed her help. Atla always put her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren's needs before her own and were always thinking of ways to help them. Atla loved to play po-ke-no, watched game shows (especially Wheel of Fortune) and crossword puzzles.

A Time For Memories
Atla was preceded in death by her four brothers, Harrison King, Le Roy King, Edward King, Lawrence Munson, and one sister Doris Mae King-Miles

A Time to Rejoice:
She leaves to cherish her loving memory along with her children, grandchildren, Tabitha, Sheri and Jermaine Butler; David Roy and Cymanda Wheeler, Lawrence Brawner Jr. and Kia Brawner, Gary Burch Jr., Santania Kyer, Kiante Azinge; Davina, Candace and Cordero Harley; LaRina Brawner, Larry and LaRell Taylor and Jason and Michael Aukard, Jr. 23 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; her special daughter and son in laws: Joyce Brawner, Pat Brawner, Clarence Payne (Keith) beloved husband of Theresa Diane, David Harley and Michael Aukard. One aunt Eudora Chisley, and one uncle Randolph Bland Sr. Loving brothers and sisters, Jerome King, Raymond King, Delores Johnson, Eleanor Travers, Marion Jarmon; brother-in-laws, Herbert Johnson and Clifford Jarmon; sisters-in-laws, Margaret King, Doris King and Dorothy Ferrell, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends

Services
Her Viewing will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2007 from 9:00am until time of Service, 10:00 am at Thornton Funeral Home Chapel, 3439 Livingstorn Road (State Route #227) Pomonkey, Maryland 20640. Her Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, Maryland.
