Lucy Mae Dudley, 92, of Lexington Park, Maryland died peacefully on Friday, April 6, 2012, at her residence with her family by her side. Born on March 3, 1920 in St. Mary's County, she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Grace Tolson Carroll. She received her education through the St. Mary's County School System. In 1941, Lucy left St. Mary's County and moved to Baltimore, Maryland.

On April 2, 1966, Lucy was united in holy matrimony to the late Nathaniel Dudley in Baltimore, Maryland. She was married for 30 years until his death, in 1996. After the death of her husband, Lucy remained in Baltimore, Maryland.

Lucy was a dedicated member of St. Bernardine Roman Catholic Church, Baltimore, Maryland and St. Cecilia Catholic Church, St. Mary's City, Maryland. She loved spending time with family and friends, cooking and crossword puzzles. Over the years, she would travel back in forth from Baltimore, Maryland to St. Mary's County to visit family and friends. In 1990, Lucy retired from the Baltimore City Public School System, Baltimore, Maryland. In 2007, she made the decision to move from Baltimore, Maryland and return to her home place in St. Mary's County to be with her family.

In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Dudley and four brothers, Augustus, Talbert, Charles and Thomas Carroll.

Lucy is survived by her siblings, Virginia G. Porter, Sarah L. Chase, John Francis Carroll, Sr., Helen N. Robinson and Paul J. Carroll, all of Lexington Park, Maryland; two sisters-in laws, Annie and Shirley Carroll; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; especially, William and Lorraine Sumerville, Hilda Sumerville, Linda Holmes, Anita Fowler and Toni Mitchell.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM in St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, St. Mary's City, MD., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. James Catholic Cemetery, Lexington Park, MD.
