Frederick John Cavanaugh, 69, of La Plata died April 5, 2012 in Baltimore. Born on November 2, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was preceded in death by his parents, Adelbert John Noetzel and Kathryn Elizabeth Noetzel Cavanaugh, and his stepfather, John Stephen Cavanaugh.
A member of Phi Mu Epsilon Honorary Mathematical Fraternity, he graduated form the George Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theoretical Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, and worked at the U.S. Census Bureau for 33 years as a mathematical statistician and a Supervisory Demographic Statistician. He then worked as a Senior Executive Business Director with Sabre Systems, Inc. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother and enjoyed spending time fishing, golfing, being with his family, and cooking. An avid fan of baseball, he coached Little League and Senior League games for his children's teams. He attended Blue Crab games and enjoyed watching the Redskins. He loved to spend time at the beach with his family. He was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Piney Parish in Waldorf, where he served as Treasurer, Vestry member, and Chairman of the Worship Committee at various times. He trained Lay Eucharistic Ministries and led monthly services at the Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He is survived by his wife, Linda Cavanaugh; daughter, Theresa Boone and her husband Richard; son Frederick S. Cavanaugh, and his wife Keri; daughter Christine Foster and her husband Justin; son Brian Cavanaugh and his wife Stephanie; grandchildren; Sarah and Kyle Arneson, Kaelin and Finley Cavanaugh, Jansen Foster; and brother, John Cavanaugh. Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 8 pm with prayers at 7 pm on Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. in La Plata. A Christian burial service will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 11 am at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Piney Parish in Waldorf. The Rev. Mother Joy A. Rose with officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the memorial fund at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Piney Parish, Waldorf, MD.
