William Francis Ruffner, Sr., 90, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away at his residence on April 1, 2012, with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Cornelia (Smith) Ruffner. William was born in Hoadley, VA on September 21, 1921
He was a veteran of WW2 and served as an airplane mechanic in the Army Air Corp during the war. He loved farming and raising cattle. William was self-employed as owner of R&M Saw and Tool Co. in Washington DC and Saber Tool Supply in Mechanicsville MD. Aside from his parents, William is predeceased by his beloved wife, Janice Jane Murphy Ruffner; his brothers, Richard, Benjamin, Gifford, and Charles; and his sister Elizabeth. William is survived by his son, William Francis Ruffner, Jr. of Mechanicsville, MD; his three daughters, Janet Willett of Mechanicsville, MD, Kathleen Garcia of South Dakota, and Peggy Borzi of Mechanicsville, MD; his 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and a host of many other family members and friends.
