Robert "Butch" Tipton was the owner and operator of Tipton Excavating for 40+ years and a member of the NRA with awards in Coon Hunting. He was legend to the local community, an avid race and stock car driver, and loved his red tractor.
Mr. Tipton was a proud, hard working, devoted father. He is the son of the late Robert Claude Tipton and the late Katherine Mae Welch Tipton. Mr. Tipton is survived by his wife of 11 years, Joyce V. Tipton; two sons, Rodney W. (Kerrie) Tipton of Port Tobacco and Rodger W. Tipton of Annapolis, MD; one daughter, Katie J. (John) Haile of Port Tobacco; two step-sons, Butch Dixon of Nanjemoy and Billy Dixon of Bryantown, MD; two step-daughters, Joann Copsey of Newburg, MD and Jean Dixon of PA; three brothers, Herbert R. Tipton of VA, Pretson Tipton of Iowa, and Bruce E. (Shelby) Tipton of Port Tobacco; also survived by five grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, and one step-great grandchild. His viewing will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 3-6PM with a Memorial Service at 6PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel (5635 Washington Ave., La Plata, MD 20646).
