Mamie Louise Lee Thompson, Age 82 of La Plata, Maryland was born on February 26, 1925 to the late Howard Wilmer Lee and the late Victoria Marie Bond Lee of LaPlata, Maryland. She departed this life on May 30, 2007 at the Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, Maryland.

Mamie was the oldest of 6 children. She was educated in the Charles County Public School System.

Mamie held various jobs throughout her lifetime, she was a cook and a domestic worker, Anyone who knew Mamie knew that what she was most proud of was her love of family. At a very young age she took on the responsibility of helping to raise her siblings after the passing of their mother.

Mamie Lee married Paul J. Thompson, the love of her life on July 10th. They shared 65 years of marriage and of that union they raised three children.

Mamie leaves to cherish her memories, loving children, James (Bunkey) Thompson, Catherine (Kitty) Countiss and Victoria M. Smith, thirteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, sons-in-law, Edward Countiss and Lonnie Smith, sister, Inez Cook, brother, Wilmer H. Lee, sister-in-law, Dorothy Lee and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Thompson, her brother, Robert E. Lee, and sisters, Emma V. Goldring and Mary Ellen Lee.

Her Viewing and Funeral will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, Maryland. Viewing 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 am. Her Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
