Swann, Merline (Age 78) of Nanjemoy, Maryland.

On Wednesday, February 15, 2012, Merline Swann, a loving sister, aunt and friend departed this life and entered into eternal rest at Genesis Elder Care in La Plata, Maryland.

Merline was born on August 30, 1933 in Nanjemoy, Maryland to the late Norman, Sr. and Lillian Swann.

She was educated in the Charles County public school system graduating from Pomonkey High School. Merline touched many lives over the years while working for the Federal Government as an Explosive Operator at the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, Maryland. She retired after 33 years of dedicated service.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. C. R. Alexander at Mount Hope Baptist Church. She loved to sing and decided to join the Senior Choir and later became active in the Pastors Aid Club. Though Merline was not blessed with children of her own, she was well known for her devotion to her nieces, nephews and their children. She loved being in the presence of good ole gospel music and would oftentimes be in attendance to see and hear any of the singing groups that were invited to minister in song in the County. Merline will be remembered as being a very stylish woman who loved to shop and look her best at all times. Oh, let's not forget, she loved going to "get her hair done". She never owned a car or had a driver's license but she had a way of getting where she needed to be.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, George, Clifton and Roy Swann; and a sister, Genevieve Swann.

Merline leaves to cherish her memories, four sisters, Evelyn, Audrey, Renetta and Mary; four brothers, Harold, Sr., Lawrence, Norman, Jr., and Albert, Sr.; sisters-in law, Doris "Sugar", Estelle, Irene, Mary "Tang", Doris and Margaret; brothers-in-law, Joseph, Sr., and Reverend Earl Britt. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing, 9am until time of Service, 11am Monday, February 20, 2012 at Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 8705 Gilroy Road, Nanjemoy, Maryland. Interment, Church Cemetery.
