John Monroe Grimes of Pomfret, MD died on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Southern MD Hospital in Clinton, MD. He was 68 years old. Son of the late Thomas Guy Grimes and the late Elizabeth Baden Grimes Catterton.
Mr. Grimes was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam era and a member of First Baptist Church of Waldorf. He was the owner of Beacon Printing for 30 plus years. He was a member of the Waldorf Lions Club for over 20 years and participated in Christmas in April for 10 years. He was also a VFW Auxiliary Member and a honorary member of the Waldorf Jaycees. He especially loved boating and biking. Predeceased by his parents. Survived by his wife of 44 years, Bonnie Faye Richardson Grimes; two daughters, Victoria Lynn Zanardi and her husband Steve and Tina Marie Anders and her husband Ron; six brothers, Art Grimes, Duke Catterton, Rock Catterton, Kenny Catterton, Bobby Catterton, and Walter Grimes; two sisters, Judy Birckhead and Nancy Sexton; brother-in-law, Robert Richardson; three grandchildren, Corbin Nadeau, Grayson Anders, and Ruby Anders; and 1 great- grandchild, Colt Nadeau. Visitation: Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 9AM until funeral service at 11AM at First Baptist Church of Waldorf (10045 Bunker Hill Road, Waldorf, MD 20603). Clergy: Rev. Wayne Kempson. Interment: Trinity Memorial Gardens at 12:15 PM. Pallbearers: Art Grimes, Duke Catterton, Rock Catterton, Jim Beinert, Ron Anders, and Robert Richardson.
