Charles Frederick Burroughs of Mechanicsville died December 15, 2011 in a boating accident while duck hunting.
Charlie was the loving son of Ed and Sharon Burroughs of Charlotte Hall and Harvey and Pamela Lilly Best of California. He is survived by his brothers, Doug and Steven Burroughs, his sister Melissa Buckler, and his grandparents Marie Bartz Burroughs, Bernard and Lenora Lilly of Mechanicsville and Shirley Teffeau of Hughesville. Charlie also had loving aunts and uncles Don and Mary Ann Burroughs, Don Lilly and Marianne Talbot, Karen Lilly, Tami and Gary Entzian, and Bill Teffeau and Kathy Jamar. He was predeceased by his grandparents Eddie Burroughs and Melvin Teffeau, great-grandparents Marian and Charles F. Bartz (for whom he was named), Ben and Louise Burroughs, and Catharine McCance. Charlie's trusted companion Remi accompanied him everywhere. His interests ranged from mountain biking to photography but his true love was the great outdoors. Charlie was an accomplished bow hunter, waterfowl hunter and crabber. He was more at home in a tree stand or duck blind than anywhere else. Charlie was employed by ADJ Sheet Metal in White Plains where he developed many great friendships. His network of friends was second to none. Whether helping him with his truck, watching Remi, accompanying him crabbing or on one of his many hunting expeditions, his friends were always by his side. Family will receive friends for Charlie's Life Celebration on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD were a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Denise Cabana rector of St. James Episcopal Church will officiate. Interment will follow in All Faith Episcopal Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Doug, Steven, and Donald Burroughs, Chris Humphreys, Andrew and Paul Pickens, Jimmy Redding, and Kevin Warring. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie's best friends Nick Beall and Remi. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Charles County Dive Rescue, Inc. P.O. Box 13, Pomfret, MD 20675.
