Clara Elizabeth Templeton, the daughter of the late Genevieve Muse and Harry Grose, was born February 21, 1937 in Washington, DC. She was called home to glory on December 13, 2011 at Bradford Oaks Nursing Home. Clara was united in holy matrimony to the late Tom Templeton on January 15, 1955, from this union seven children were born. She was educated in the Prince Georges County Public School System. Beginning a well-rounded diverse career after graduating, she served as an Inspector, Telephone Operator, Nurse's Assistant, and Forensic Psychiatric Technician. Clara retired from St. Elizabeth's Hospital in 1987. Continuing to further her hard work and dedication to public service, she decided to take a post-retirement position with Charles County Board of Education as a Substitute Teacher. Understanding that her task on earth was not completed, she closed out her career as a Service Assistant for A.R.C. (Association of Retarded Citizens). Clara was recognized as a dedicated, innovative employee and was quickly promoted to Service Support Supervisor. As a devoted Christian and advocate within her community, she faithfully served as a Missionary within her church for several years. Clara volunteered at the Head Start Program as the Policy Council Chairperson, and served as Secretary for Southern Maryland Tri-County Community Action Executive Board. She was dedicated to her many endeavors, but especially enjoyed her role as Financial Secretary of the Pride of Southern MD (Elks) Temple #651. Clara received the Blue Ribbon of Merit, one of the highest honors that could be bestowed upon a financial secretary for a significant job well done!! Above all of her accomplishments, Clara was a proud and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her legacy includes seven children and one brother; sons, Tommy, Donnell (Pamela), Frankie and Nathan (Karen); daughters, Gordenia Cavanaugh, Constance Morten, and Cedale Templeton; brother, Anthony Briscoe, brother-in-law, Frank Templeton and twelve grandchildren. She also leaves a host of extended family that include the Muse's, the Carroll's and the Brown's and several special friends. Viewing, 10am until time of Service, 11am on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Life Church, 6707 Woodyard Road, Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Interment, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.
