A Time To Be Born
On January 26, 1951, Eleanor Lyvette Slater-Pinkett was born to the late John F. Slater, Sr., & Rosa Thomas Slater, in Marbury Maryland.

A Time To Die
On Thursday, April 5, 2007, at the Washington Hospital Center here in the District, she answered the Master's call and quietly slipped away from the toils and cares of this world, to a land of unbroken calm where she now rests from her labor safe in the arms of Jesus.

A Time Of Peace
Lyvette was educated in the Charles County Public School System. She continued her education after graduating from high school at the Charles County Conununity College, Bowie State University and the University of the District of Columbia where she earned her degree in Early Childhood Education. She joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and sang with the youth choir. Later in life, Lyvette became a faithful member of the Holy Christian Missionary Baptist Church For All People. She looked forward to attending church every Sunday, even when she did not feel well. Lyvette especially enjoyed the liturgical dancers when they performed.

A Time To Every Purpose
Lyvette was the Directress of the Johenning Baptist Church's Daycare and also Paramount Baptist Church. Despite her failing health, she was employed with U. P. 0. Child Development Center of Washington, D. C.

A Time To Reflect
She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Anita Mathews and Lynette Matthews-Broadnax; one step-son, Johnathan Matthews; one grand-daughter, Anilah Allen; one sister, Rosella Martin; six brothers and sisters-in-law: Henry (Marion) Swann Sr.; John F. (Darlene) Slater; James T. (Ann) Slater; Frank B. (Deborah) Slater Sr.; Levi (Deborah) Slater; Melvin (Alfreda) Slater Sr.; one brother-in-law, Melvin Coles, Sr.; one son-in-law Johnny Broadnax; one Aunt, Regina Dunnington; four godchildren; Gary, Gloria, Lorenzo, Bridgett. God-patents, William and Eleanor Miles. Preceding her in death were one sister Ann; and one godchild Frank Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.

Her Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 12th from 9:00 am until Service time, 11:00 am at Holy Christian Missionary Baptist Church, 5110 Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, N.E., Washington, D.C. Interment National Harmony Memorial Park, Hyattsville, Maryland.
