Charles Wayne Bailey, Chief Petty Officer, U.S. Navy (RET), 67, of New Port Richey, FL, passed to be with his Heavenly Father on November 24, 2011 at Hospice House in New Port Richey, FL. Born July 20, 1944 in Rocky Mount, NC. He was the son of the late Lula E. Snipes and Alex L. Bailey. Wayne served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 until 1993.
Wayne was a volunteer Deputy in the Citizens Service Unit, Pasco County Sheriffs Office, New Port Richey, FL. Before he and Barbara moved to Florida in 2005 to retire for good, he served as a past member and President of the Charles County Mobil Intensive Care, also past member of Hughesville Volunteer Fire and Rescue as Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician, Charles County Dive Team, as an E.M.T. and Diver, Newburg Volunteer Rescue Squad, as Lieutenant and EMT, Newburg, MD, and Maryland Search and Rescue Dogs, Bryans Road, MD. He was a life Member of V.F.W. Post 10081, Bel Alton, MD and of the American Legion Post 238, Hughesville, MD for 25 years. Wayne enjoyed his volunteer work and received several Presidents Volunteer Service Awards. He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, hunting, and swimming. Watching NASCAR and football on the weekends. Survived by his wife, Barbara (Quade/Ferguson) Bailey and their children: Sharon Ready (Larry), Pascagoula, MS; Norma Pike (Wayne), Hollywood, MD; Sue Carol McClung (Joe), Fredericksburg, VA; Deborah Ferguson, New Port Richey, FL; John Ferguson, Sr. (Kim), Clarksville, TN; and Theresa Spaulding, (Homer, Sr.), Wilsondale, WV. Siblings: Bobby Bailey (Libby), New Port Richey, FL; Frankie Snipes (Alice), NC; and Sheila Bayless (John), GA. Uncle: Donley Procter, Rocky Mount, NC. Wayne also has 18 Grandchildren, and 16 Great Grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM (with Prayers at 7:00PM), at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622, A Memorial Service, with military honors, will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on March 28, 2012 with family members present.
