Joseph Henry Tippett, Sr. "Snook", 78, of Lusby, MD, formerly of Forestville, MD passed away on December 8, 2011 at Calvert Memorial Hospital, Prince Frederick, MD. He was born on September 9, 1933 in Washington, DC to the late Frank S. and Violett S. Tippett.

Joseph is survived by his wife Joan Marie Tippett; daughters Marie "Terri" Therese of Lusby, MD, Dorothy Virginia Nielson of Lusby, MD, Carole Elaine Shegogue of Lusby, MD and Dina Michele Windsor of Mechanicsville, MD; sons, Joseph H. Tippett, Jr. of LaPlata, MD, Thomas Eugene Tippett of Brandywine, MD and Gordon Wesley Tippett of Waldorf, MD; fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Frank Eugene Tippett, Wilber Tippett and Edward Tippett.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 13, 2011 from 6 – 8 PM in the Rausch Funeral Home, 20 American Lane, Lusby, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 90 Alexander Lane, Solomons, MD on Tuesday, December 14, at 11 AM with Monsignor Michael Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Washington National Cemetery, Suitland, MD.
