Austine Rae Fink, 58, of Port Tobacco passed away at her home in the early morning hours of October 18th following a prolonged battle against metastatic cancer.
A talented visual artist, Austine taught art to students of all ages from kindergarten through college in Howard and Charles counties. Her most recent teaching assignment prior to her retirement due to her disability was at the Stethem Alternative School in Charles County. From 1980 to 1991 Mrs. Fink owned and operated the Silver Queen Auction & Appraisal Company in Glenwood, MD. Austine Fink was born in Washington, D.C. on August 23, 1953. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Mexico and her Master's Degree from the College of Notre Dame. She traveled extensively throughout North America, Central America, the Caribbean and Europe and loved to dance and to listen to Luciano Pavarotti. Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Roger Lee Fink, and their daughter, Austine Cezanne Fink, of New York City and Cadiz, Spain, and the many others who will truly miss her creative and independent spirit. Although services will be private for the family, a Life Celebration reception with prayers will be held on Sunday, November 6th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Cedar Hill Farm in Waldorf, where Austine loved to volunteer every year to help make wreaths and other greeneries to brighten up the Christmas season.
