Dennis Ray "Denny" Chastain of Port Tobacco, MD, died Friday, September 16, 2011, at his residence. He was 67 years old. Born on July 14, 1944, in Gary, IN, he was the son of the late Stella Alice and the late Lloyd Paul Chastain.

Before moving to Port Tobacco in 1981, he lived in Dale City, VA for a number of years. Denny worked for the U. S. Government in various agencies before retiring as Director of the Computer Center for the Department of Transportation. Following his retirement, he drove a school bus for the Compton Bus Company.

Denny received his undergraduate degree from Indiana State University double majoring in Mathematics and Physics. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. His Master's degree in Public Administration was from the American University.

Denny also belonged to the Masonic Order, was a member and Past President of the Government Information Technology Executive Council, the Dale City Boating Association and the Port Tobacco Rivera Civic Association. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan, who loved boating, fishing, and being on the water. He loved kids, but most of all, he loved being with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Chastain of Alexandria, VA; his daughter, Nicole Blocker of La Plata, MD; his son, Christopher Chastain and his wife Christine of Pembroke Pines, FL; his brother, David Allen Chastain and his wife Kathy of Pearland, TX; his grandchildren Taylor, Josh, Kaitlyn, Jack and Austyn; his devoted friend and caregiver, Joann Lloyd.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
