Alice Mae Belknap, 92, of Charlotte Hall, MD passed away with grace and dignity on August 16, 2011 at home. Born April 14, 1919 in Tioga, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Adam Lee Keener and the late Mary Ida Simms Keener.
Alice grew up in Richwood, West Virginia with 10 brothers and sisters. She graduated from Richwood High School. During World War II, she worked at a plant in Smyrna, Delaware which manufactured bomb detonators. She returned to Richwood and was married to Roy Junior Belknap on Maya 3, 1947. They moved to Charles County, Maryland in 1961. Alice spent the rest of her life as a homemaker. She was a devout Baptist, very active in the church and treasured the time spent with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy who died October 2, 1990; son, Danny Benson Belknap and siblings, Elliot Keener, Ern Keener, Irene Wilson, Ellis Keener, Ardene Keener, Arvene Keener, Elliott Keener, Iva Lloyd, Icie Herron, and Oat Keener (Alice's twin). She is survived by her children, Jewell Belknap Myers and her husband G. Hammond Myers, III of Williamsburg, VA and Roy Dale Belknap and his wife Patti of Charlotte Hall, MD; grandchildren, Kimberly A. Kartsen, Roy David Belknap, and Matthew Scott Belknap; great-grandchildren, Tyler Kartsen, David Kartsen, Zachery Kartsen, Owen Belknap, and Ellis Belknap. Visitation: Sunday, August 21, 2011 from 6-8PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2011 at Raymond Funeral Chapel at 11AM with burial following at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers: Family Members.
