George Joseph Forbes, 60, of Mechanicsville, MD died August 12, 2011 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Washington, D.C. Born May 7, 1951 in Washington, D.C. He was the son of the late Robert Edward Lee Forbes, Sr. and Julia Frances Herbert Forbes.

George was a lifelong resident of Southern Maryland. He graduated from La Plata High School in 1969. He was drafted into the United States Army in February of 1971 at the time of the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in February of 1973. After military service, George was hired by PEPCO where he worked for 25 years doing generator maintenance. In September of 1985 George was blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Toni Danielle. In February of 2008, Toni and her husband, Zack blessed him with his grandson, Rylan Zachary, whom he adored. Throughout George's lifetime he enjoyed farming, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. Those that knew him knew that he was outgoing, easy to know, and that he never met a stranger. George had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest extent.

The family will receive friends for George's Life Celebration on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8p.m. at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. Prayers will be held at 7:00p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at St. Francis DeSales Church, Benedict, MD at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow at St. Dominic's Catholic Church Cemetery, 22300 Aquasco Rd., Aquasco, MD 20608.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion, Jameson-Harrison Post #238, P.O. Box 527, Hughesville, MD 20637.
