Mrs. Hedlesky was Secretary for Andrews Air Force Base Elementary School in Camp Springs, MD for 15 years. She was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Waldorf, MD. She grew up in Aurora, IN.
After her marriage in 1943, and after the war years, she and her late husband, Nick, moved to Washington, D.C. in 1951; then settling in District Heights and Forestville, MD. In her earlier years, she was a Den Mother with the Forestville Cub Scouts and active in the Forestville Boys Club. She enjoyed her hobbies which included arts & crafts and gardening. She was an animal lover and enjoyed ballroom dancing. She most enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was a very active member with the Clark Senior Center in La Plata, MD with her fellow seniors. She was daughter of the late Floyd H. Miller and the late Gladys Mary Johnson Miller. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Nicholas Hedlesky; one son, Nicholas "Buddy" Hedlesky; one brother, Donald Miller; and one sister, Margaret Jones. She is survived by her two sons, Anthony Hedlesky of Waldorf, MD and Stefan Hedlesky of Manassas, VA; two daughters, Nicole (Bruce) Pumphrey of Purcellville, VA and Lisa H. Boyd of Williamsburg, VA; and one sister, Sharon Zernack of Wabash, IN. Also survived by six grandchildren, Shawn, Shelly, Allison, Toni- Marie, Alex and Marissa; and one great-grandson, Nicholas Billings. A Visitation will take place on Monday, July 25, 2011 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 11am at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers will be Alex Hedlesky, Shawn Pumphrey, Brett Billings and Randy Matson. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service. |
