Marion Hunt Sprecher, a longtime resident of Catonsville, MD died on Sunday, June 12, 2011 in Calvert County Nursing Center, Prince Frederick, Maryland. She was 88 years old.

Marion was born on December 25, 1922 to the late Lealand Carlos Hunt and Eugenia Deas Hunt in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Marion graduated from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. She received her Master's degree from the University of Maryland College Park. She was a lifelong employee of the Baltimore County School system where she was a school librarian in a number of schools, including Merritt Point Elementary, Edmondson Heights Elementary, Hillcrest Elementary and Catonsville Elementary.

In 1944, she married Lane Melvin Sprecher and the couple later moved to Catonsville, MD. Her husband died in 1978. She had four children (two sons and two daughters) and was active in the community, including serving on the Altar Guild at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, Baltimore, MD and as a member of the Woman's Club of Catonsville, MD and the Catonsville Garden Club.

She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and entertaining her large extended family, which grew to include sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping up with current events. Marion also enjoyed traveling, particularly in the company of family and friends, and had been to England and France after her retirement.

She is survived by her children: sons John Sprecher of Ellicott City, MD and Stephen Sprecher of Columbia, MD, and by two daughters, Patricia Page of Catonsville, MD and Suzanne Smith of Lusby, MD, as well as by her sons-in-law, Gary Page and Steven Smith, and her daughter-in-law Mary Helen Sprecher. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Stacey Huffman of Great Falls, MT, Astin and Lindsey Smith of Lusby, MD, and by three great-grandchildren, Keeley, Kennedy and Drake Huffman, as well as by her grandson-in-law, Keefe Huffman. Additional survivors include a sister, Eugenia H. Bryan of Greenville, SC.

The family will receive friends at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, 4711 Edmondson Ave., Baltimore, MD 21229 on Saturday, June 18, at 11:00 AM where a service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 PM. Interment will be private.
