Ruby Sarah (Wood) Tyler, 87 of Lusby, MD formerly of District Heights, MD passed away on May 23, 2011 at Calvert Memorial Hospital, Prince Frederick, MD. She was born on March 5, 1924 in Iowa to the late George Underwood and Clara Shoeppner Underwood.
Ruby moved from Prince George's County in 1988. She was an executive secretary for the Roofers International Union in Washington, D. C. until her retirement in March, 1989. She loved to hang out on the boat spending time with her family, catching, cooking and eating crabs. Ruby coordinated every family reunion and get together that they had at Christmas and the annual summer parties. She always loved to cook, especially for large groups of family and dear friends. Ruby loved Nebraska football and was an avid Redskin fan. She had a green thumb and loved to tend to her indoor plants, her garden outside and her tomato plants. Ruby was also a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church of Solomons, MD. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Dorothy Barnett, son, Larry Wood and her sister, Norma Underwood. Ruby is survived by her devoted husband Robert R. Tyler, her seven loving children, Barbara and her husband Mike Quade of Ocean City, MD; Ashby and his wife Jennifer Wood of Port Tobacco, MD; Wayne Wood of Orlando, FL; Carolyn Sater of North Beach, MD; Walter Wood of North Beach, MD; Dennis and his wife Cheryl Wood of Bel Alton, MD and Debra and her husband Mike Messineo of Golden Beach, MD, sister of Ruth Goeglein, George Underwood, Marion Gill, Dorothy Hier and Pat Murray all of Nebraska; nineteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Rausch Funeral Home, P. A., 20 American Lane, Lusby, MD on Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 2~4 and 6~8 PM where the Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 27, at 11AM.
