Mr. Hammonds was a Lumber Sawyer with local lumber companies for 50 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, old cars, his garden, dancing, and listening to old music. He also enjoyed his dog "April".

Son of the late Ulys Carl Hammonds and the late Carrie Steffey Hammonds. Predeceased by his parents; his late wife, Jannie "Connie" Hammonds; late step-daughter, Frankie Holder; and late brother, Don Hammonds.

Survived by sons, Carl (Regina) Hammonds, Jr., of Duffield, VA and John (Tracy) Hammonds of Port Tobacco, MD; one step-son, David Holder of TN; three step-daughters, Jannie Williams of VA, Elaine Young of TN, and Tammy Rowell of La Plata; one brother, Danny (Judy) Hammonds of White Plains, MD; two sisters, Reba (Cliff) Dennison of La Plata, MD and Nancy (Robert) Oliver of Dentsville, MD; and one sister-in-law, Sandy Hammonds of La Plata, MD. Also survived by ten grandchildren, Bo, Joseph, Christina, Dylan, Amanda, Jim, Angela, Paul, Lee, and Jeremy.

Visitation: Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Funeral Service: Friday, May 27, 2011 at 11AM at Raymond Funeral Chapel. Clergy: Rev. Mark Roberson. Interment: Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.

Pallbearers: John, Lee, Jeremy, Joseph, Bo, and Rodney Hammonds. Honorary Pallbearers: Carl Hammonds, Jr., Ray Dennison, Robby Oliver, Danny Hammonds, and Richard Williams.
