Mr. Smith was a Truck Driver for Naval Research Laboratories for 30 years and was a Veteran of the United States Navy, having served from 1948-1952. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Chesapeake Beach, MD and the Moose Lodge in White Plains, MD. He loved fishing, watching game shows, riding motorcycles and trips to McCauley's Inn in Waldorf.
He was son of the late E. Herbert Smith and the late Helen Smith. He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan Elizabeth Smith; two sons, Lance V. (Deborah) Smith of Hughesville, MD and Ronald G. Smith, Jr.; and two daughters, Roxann C. (Guiseppe) Gallo of Charlotte Hall, MD and Charmaine Tillery of Manassas, VA. Also survived by five grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Tierney Thomas, Raleigh Thomas, Audrey Smith and Elizabeth Tillery. A Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 7pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD. Clergy will be the Rev. Mark Roberson. Pallbearers will be family members. Honorary Pallbearers will be the United States Navy Honor Guard. Interment will follow on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 11am at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
