Joseph "Farbes" Garnet Nelson, 78 of Waldorf, MD, died on April 18, 2011 at Washington Hospital Center.

Born on August 23, 1932 in St, Mary's County, he was the son of the late Mills and Emma Tennison Nelson. Mr. Nelson was an employee of for T.F. Nelson Plumbing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards with friends and enjoying occasional Slot play, and country music especially George Jones and Patsy Kline. Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather.

Predeceased by his daughter Deborah Burch and his siblings; Mary V. Railey, Dorothy L. Nelson, Mary K. Harris, Anny M. Lawrence, Ginny Copsey, Albert, Andrew, Harry, Francis, James, and Guy Nelson.

Survived by his wife; Mary Burch Nelson, children; Delores Jameson of Hughesville, MD, Elaine Quade of Mechanicsville, MD, Ellen Walls of Brandywine, MD, Billy Morgan of Bryantown, MD and Gary Nelson of Wilmington, NC. He is also survived by his siblings Frank Nelson, Betty Russell, Agnes Brown Margaret Barrichlaw, Sissy Cooper, Edith Wenks, Muffie Turner, George Nelson, and Kite Thompson.

Grandchildren, Tammy, Jimmy, Tony, Lynn, Billy, Dawn, Lisa, Davy, Angela, Jeff, Lee, Donald, Jason, Charlie, Heather, great-grandchildren, Buddy, Amanda, Zachary, Tyler, Jay, Cody, Sammy, Destiny, Ashley, Savannah, Ricky, Lauren, Dawson, Sophie, Myers, Brittany, Brookie, Tyler, Logan, Astin, Lizzie, Austin, Hope, Nate, Jessica, Jacob, Christopher, Courtney, Brylan, Nicholas, Alana, Colby, Savannah, Tyler, Connor, McKenna, Kendall, and Brendan, and 2 great-great grandchildren, Alexie and Aidan.

A Life Celebration and visitation will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD where Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Monsignor Oliver McGready as celebrant. Interment will follow in church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be; James D. and Anthony R. Walls, David R. Jameson, Jr., Jeffrey A. Quade, Ashby L. and Donald G. Quade, Jr., Jason M. and Charles J. Burch. Honorary pallbearers will be; William M. Morgan, III, Heather J. Carberry, and Mary A. Turner.
