Shirley Ann Miedzinski Copsey, of La Plata, Maryland, died suddenly on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Civista Medical Center in La Plata. She was 70 years old. Born on March 6, 1941, in Hollywood, MD, she was the daughter of the late Mary Irva McKay and the late John Edward Miedzinski.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed playing cards and Bingo. She and her husband lived in Arizona before moving back to La Plata. She enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A devoted Catholic, Mrs. Copsey attended St. Ignatius Catholic Church at Chapel Point. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Cecelia Johnson; her brothers, John Ralph Miedzinski, Phillip Miedzinski and William Francis Miedzinski. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Clyde J. Copsey; her children, Joseph Ronald "Ronnie" Copsey of Glasva, MD; Linda Ann Mudd of La Plata, MD; David Timothy Copsey of Mechanicsville, MD; James Clyde Copsey of White Plains, MD; her sister, Betty Elizabeth Conner of Virginia Beach, VA; her brothers, James "Ed" Miedzinski of Woodbridge, VA; George Francis Miedzinski of Hollywood, MD; David Wayne Miedzinski of Hollywood, MD; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Visitation on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, from 2PM to 4PM and from 6PM to 8PM with Prayers at 7PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Mass of Christian Burial to be offered on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at 10AM at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 8855 Chapel Point Road, Chapel Point, Port Tobacco, MD 20677 with Father Edward Dougherty officiating. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers are Clyde "C. J."
