Gladys Elma Allen of La Plata, Maryland, died on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Genesis Health Center in La Plata, MD. She was 88 years old.

Born on November 2, 1922, in Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Jessie P. Mealus Woods and the late Otto Vernon Woods.

Ms. Allen worked for many years at the former Stardust Motel in Waldorf, MD. A long time resident at the La Plata Manor in La Plata, she loved playing Bingo, doing arts and crafts and going to the Clark Senior Center in La Plata.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her "adopted" families, the Howe and the Shymansky families.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 24, 2011, from 5PM to 8PM with Funeral Service at 6PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646.

Rev. Tim Bean will officiate.
