Charles Melvin Taylor, Sr., 81, of La Plata, MD, died March 17, 2011, at Civista Medical Center, La Plata, MD.
Mr. Taylor was a conduit supervisor for 35 years with PEPCO in Washington, DC and a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of New Life Wesleyan Church and the Moose Lodge in White Plains. He loved fishing, boating, crabbing, hunting, baseball, golfing and traveling. He was a loving father and grandfather. Born December 1, 1929, in Broad Creek, MD, he was the son of the late Owen Watson Taylor, Sr. and the late Ethel Constance Williams Taylor. Predeceased by his parents; first wife, Clara Taylor. Survived by his wife Elizabeth M. Taylor; three sons, Richard L. (Ellie) Taylor of Potomac, MD; James H. Taylor of College Park, MD; Charles M. (Jeannette) Taylor of Port Tobacco, MD; one daughter, Peggy L. (Malcolm) Wagner of La Plata, MD; two brothers, Owen (Wanda) Taylor, Jr. Of FL; Kenneth (Mickey) Taylor of White Plains, MD. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 20, 2011, from 4PM until service time at 7PM at New Life Wesleyan Church, 9690 Shepherd's Creek Place, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment will be on Monday, March 21, 2011, at 11AM at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. Rev. Mike Hilson will officiate. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the United States Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Wesleyan Church, 9690 Shepherd's Creek Place, La Plata, MD 20646.
