Mrs. Blacklock was a homemaker and a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church Chapel Point. She was a volunteer for 20 years for the Charles County Nursing Home. She loved cooking, canning, her flowers, being with her children and grandchildren and especially at the holidays. She was known as a very kind and caring lady.
Daughter of the late Thomas Adelbert Shorter and the late Lillian Celestria Fowler Shorter. Predeceased by her husband, James Sydney Blacklock; two sons, Thomas Francis Goldsmith and John Calvin "Jack" Goldsmith; son-in-law, Sam Frederick; two brothers, Thomas and Donald Shorter; one sister, Mabel Rollins; and one grandson, Robert A. Frederick. Survived by two daughters, Jeanie Frederick and Gail (Ed) Yatty, both of Bel Alton, MD; and two sisters, Helen Lancaster and Viola Hill, both of Rock Point, MD. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation was Monday, March 14, 2011 from 4-7PM with a Wake Service at 6:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, March 15 at 10:30 AM at St. Ignatius Catholic Church Chapel Point (8855 Chapel Point Road, Port Tobacco, MD 20677). Clergy: Fr. Mark Smith. Pallbearers: Will Robertson, Raymond Boyden, John Goldsmith, Blair Ellin, and David and Wayne Hancock.
