Lawrence James Chase Jr. of Mechanicsville, MD died on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at his home. He was 90 years old.

Born February 28, 1916 in Arlington, Virginia, he was the son of the late Annie Rosie Hurkle and Lawrence James Chase Sr. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II before being Honorably Discharged in 1945 at the rank of Private First Class. While in the military, Mr. Chase was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon. Mr. Chase lived in St. Mary's County since 1980 coming from Prince George's County. He worked as a Mechanic for the Greyhound Bus Service. He enjoyed working on and painting cars, woodworking, gardening, hunting, fishing, crabbing and camping. He was a long time member of the Robin Dale Country Club.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Chase was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Winifred Adell Chase; daughter Renee Eppard; brother John Chase.

He is survived by his sons Paul Chase of Charlotte Hall, MD and Glenn Chase of Mechanicsville, MD; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.

Family to receive relatives and friends on Monday, February 19, 2007 from 5PM to 7PM when Services will begin at 7PM at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Rd. Charlotte Hall, MD. Interment will be private.
