Mr. Solar was a Software Engineer for SAIC in Dahlgren, VA and a Veteran of the United States Navy. He coached little league baseball for many years. He loved sports, especially the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Phillies. He was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed fishing.

Son of the living Martin Solar and the living Dolores Sterling Solar.

Survived by his parents, Martin and Dolores Solar of Fairless Hills, PA; his wife, Monica A. Solar; two sons, Matthew R. Solar of Waldorf, MD and Mickey (Carol) Solar of Accokeek, MD; two daughters, Kelsey Erin (Rodger) Wankowski of Waldorf, MD and Megan Solar of NJ; two sisters, Betty (Michael) Sullivan and Randi (Jack) Hawley, both of PA. Also survived by two grandchildren, Kyle Wankowski and Isabella Solar.

Visitation will be on Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 5-8PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD.

Additional viewing and funeral service will be at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA 19056 on Sunday, February 20 and Monday, February 21, 2011.

Interment will take place at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Langhorn, PA.
