Richard Lawrence Callender, 79, of Waldorf, MD, died January 25, 2011, at Calvert Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Callender was a Nursing Assistant for over 30 years at area hospitals and a Veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean War. He was of the Catholic faith, enjoyed golfing, and was always working. Born September 30, 1931, in Stapleton, NE, he was the son of the late Lawrence Callender and the late Louise Mentgen Callender. Predeceased by his parents. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Anna C. Callender; sons, William L. Callender and Robert L. Callender, both of Woodbridge, VA; daughters, Roxanne C. and her husband Harry Burgers of Waldorf, MD; Deborah L. and her husband Jim Reece of Raymond, OH; Jacqueline M. and her husband Richard Cain of Conway, SC; brothers, Chuck and Lee Callender, both of CA. Also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be on Monday, January 31, 2011, at 10:30AM at Maryland Veterans' Cemetery Chapel, Cheltenham, MD. Interment will take place following the service at Maryland Veterans' Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
